Annual Tobong’u Lore Festival Ends In Turkana County
This year’s four day Tobong’u Lore Festival kicked off on 12th August 2019 at Ekales Cultural Centre in Lodwar town and ended on Saturday. The cultural fete attracted thousands of both domestic and foreign tourists. Tobong’u Lore in the local Turkana language means “welcome back home.”
Historians believe Turkana is the original homeland of man, owing to the presence of archeological sites like Koobi Fora, which suggest the existence of early man. Thus, it is believed Turkana County is the cradle of mankind.

Once a sleepy county, known for cattle rustling and ethnic conflict, the advent of county governance and the discovery of oil in Ngamia 1 and 2 in the region has awakened this sleepy giant and it is now attracting international attention in terms of tourism and investments.
